Inspired by the Arolla glacier, the client customized a Rolex Cosmograph Daytona watch replica and Artisans de Genève chose to reflect the transparency of the glacier and its distinctive blue hue through the sapphire dial and invisible gem-set bezel. Material integration was the guideline for the "Arolla" project. They combined fragile and delicate sapphires with the rough surface of the 4130 caliber, which recalls the Arolla ice cave.

"I've been exploring glaciers for years ...... It's my obsession. One of them, in particular, is in my memory: the Arolla in Switzerland. I go there as often as possible and it is the main inspiration for the personalization of my watches. I wanted to recreate the special blue color and transparency of the ice caves."


The "Arolla" project was designed in a specific blue color inspired by the color of the glacier. In order to develop the right color, the Geneva craftsmen have made several attempts over the past few months to achieve a harmonious shade of blue, from the gem-set bezel to the crystal sapphire dial.


Artisans de Genève developed the original skeletonized design of the Rolex 4130 caliber, complemented by a geometric X-shaped skeletonized pendulum. The entire movement is enhanced by a series of proprietary techniques, including bevelling, polishing and sandblasting. The movement's bridges feature innovative shapes and cuts.
