This year is a big year for Breitling. After the Georges Kern takeover last year, the watch industry has been waiting with bated breath for this year's Basel releases. A few were announced last month but just today have we learned about several new releases including the Breitling Navitimer Super 8 B20 watch replica (ref. EB204010).
Design
The Breitling Navitimer Super 8 Collection replica is inspired by the Ref. 637, a chronograph used in the 1930s and 1940s. This chronograph, which was used by the aviators connected to their thighs, was easily readable and comfortable to use. The winding crown was positioned on the top of the case and was so easy to handle that the aviators could easily adjust even if they had gloves on. The pusher of the chronograph activated the timing and countdown functions, which enabled the soldiers to perform their duties with precision.
50mm Case
The Super 8 replica's case measures 46mm and 50mm when you include the bidirectional bezel (so 50mm all-in). The screw-locked crown is located on the left-hand side, which is another homage to the 637 whose crown was located in the same place for easy maneuvering.
